This week, Doc and the Maestro discuss the HBO miniseries The Plot Against America. The series, written by The Wire’s David Simon, is an alternate history that imagines the 1940 Presidential election of a fascist-leaning Charles Lindbergh and an America that does not go to war with Nazi’s. We dig into why Will loves this show and why it makes Joe feel “yuck.” We talk about political implications and writing about social systems without sacrificing character. This is a deep one so join us!

Visit Bad City with us this week! We're digging into one of the Maestro's favorite movies of all time, A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night! This is a black and white Iranian/American hipster vampire spaghetti-western love story and was written and directed by Ana Lily Amirpour. Her unique film includes homages to Tarantino and Lynch, but with an aesthetic that is all her own. We get into questions of whether this counts as an art film, why it makes sense that this film has an accompanying comic, and things being "greater than the sum of their parts."
